Inspired by all the wonderful feather-ware..... a new feather hair comb was a must!
Time to find some cool feathers to work with - having a rouge ostrich hanging out and dropping feathers in your friends yard - is definitely a plus.... the others I found at Micheals.
Next, cut a form out of a file folder.
Cut out some felt a little bigger than the form. Sandwich the form within the two pieces of felt and glue it all together. I used gel medium to glue....why? It was the closest thing to me at the time. Form the sandwich so it sits flat on your head and let dry.
Hot glue feathers - lots of feathers..... then, place your ostrich feather (or any one of a zillion other options) onto the top and hot glue that into place.
Cut a small rectangle out of the felt and sew on a small hair comb. I sew it on instead of hot gluing it because the glue tends to dry and take up too much of the comb and the hair won't sit all the way in. Last, hot glue the rectangle onto the backside of the feathers.
This pretty thing is a gift for my pretty friend, Christina. Hopefully when she wears it I will remember to take a picture and share it. xoxoxo

Just returned from a much needed break. Anna Maria Island, FL is a beautiful, quiet place. I took all kinds of great pictures. This one was, surprisingly, taken with the camera sitting on a fence set on auto. I did a little photoshop'ing, and tah dah.... a postcard pic. Love it!
Here is another taken by a friend we were visiting. I used a photoshop actionpak by Filter Forge called "Super fun happy." Their site has all kinds of cool filters to buy. This one was in a trial pack. NICE!
More pictures to come - plus, definitely more home crafting.
Have a fantastic week!!!! xoxoxo

Remember when you were a child and everything you made was "beautiful"?
It is still true!!! Create today knowing now what you knew then - EVERYTHING YOU MAKE IS BEAUTIFUL.
Sometimes when I do find the time to create, I just stare at a blank page and do nothing. I am blocked by my inner critic's voice "No one is going to like this.... You're faces always come out lopsided..... you still need to learn more about layering.... What is artistic about that???.... Blah Blah Blah"
Since it is pretty unlikely that my work will end up in a museum (unless I win the lotto, and build my own museum - it could happen) I just need to remind myself what I knew long ago - Everything I make is beautiful and, no matter where I am on my journey, art makes me happy - and I'll take that over being impressive any day.
Enjoy your beautiful day,
Leslie xoxo

I love love love the first Monday of the New Year - I feel that I do a lot of thinking about my New Year's Resolutions on the1st - but never really start implementing a plan until the first Monday. Since my list of resolutions includes more blog posts - here I am.
I received The Book Of Awakening" from my Mom for Christmas. It's one of those books that you read a daily entry upon waking. Today's quote:
"The coming to consciousness is not a discovery of some new thing; it is a long and painful return to that which has always been." -Helen Luke
The way I interpret this: You were born fully aware and whole. You just need to get back to that place - the place before all the crap happened that messed you up. It's not about "learning" to be that person..... It's about "unlearning" the crap.
I am sure they intended it to be much more eloquent than that.
Enjoy your first wonderfully beautiful Monday of this very fantastic New Year. CHEERS!!!

1. New Year's resolutions... nothing like a fresh start made more exciting with awesome goals. (one of which is to set my ass down to craft and blog about it)
2. Funky, junky cowboy boots. YeeHaw!
3. Santa delivering the most perfect Christmas present to a very deserving, and happy 4 yr old boy.
4. Receiving the perfect Christmas present. Bret - you melt my heart.
5. GREAT READ!!! It has completely changed my idea of diet and exercise. Mr. Ferriss - you are genius!
6. Cheat day!!!!! That's right, baby. Every Sunday is Cheat Day. I follow a pretty strict diet Monday thru Saturday - then the moment I wake up Sunday - OINK FEST! It's all in the book mentioned above - The 4 hour Body by Timothy Ferriss.
7. Paper - LOVE it!!! I just see stacks of inspiration and beauty.
8. New Year's eve parties. Hugging and kissing all your loved ones at midnight is the best. I am so lucky to have the greatest friends on earth. :-))))))
9. Wyanne's art is what is inspiring me now. She is amazing!! Her colors make me happy. Check her out on youtube - you will be hooked.
10. My natural nails. It has been at least 10 years since I've had my own nails. It has taken quite some time to grow out the destruction left from the acrylics. Now I just can't imagine why I'd go back to fake. Probably has something to do with getting older - and I don't mind that at all.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!xoxoxoxo
