Remember when you were a child and everything you made was "beautiful"?
It is still true!!! Create today knowing now what you knew then - EVERYTHING YOU MAKE IS BEAUTIFUL.
Sometimes when I do find the time to create, I just stare at a blank page and do nothing. I am blocked by my inner critic's voice "No one is going to like this.... You're faces always come out lopsided..... you still need to learn more about layering.... What is artistic about that???.... Blah Blah Blah"
Since it is pretty unlikely that my work will end up in a museum (unless I win the lotto, and build my own museum - it could happen) I just need to remind myself what I knew long ago - Everything I make is beautiful and, no matter where I am on my journey, art makes me happy - and I'll take that over being impressive any day.
Enjoy your beautiful day,
Leslie xoxo

Inspired by Alisa Burke's little monster's....
(Jake loves rockets!!!)
1. Take a few paper rolls and cover them with gesso. Let dry.
2. Paint to your hearts content!
3. Create your rocket's cone and feet from scrapbook paper and glue to painted paper rolls.
4. Cover with 2 coats of gloss medium.
... a little thank you to my hot boyfriend who remembered not to toss the rolls. (I forgot all the time.) :-))) He's a keeper!

I've been noticing that quite of few of the blogs I follow have lists of the authors favorite things every week. So today, in the midst of all the beautiful rain we are having, I put together 10 things I am loving this week. (I left out the obvious ones: my life, son, boyfriend, family...blah blah blah. Enough, already - right?)
1. Making costumes! This year's creations: 1 spongebob squarepants for my very cute son. And 1 patrick for my very cool boyfriend.
2. Yummy fresh veggies. mmmmm...(image by Rene Ehrhardt)
3. Beading stretchy bracelets.
4. oh how I looooooove photoshop. I honestly can loose half a day fiddling with photos.
5. Paint Pens - I'd like to kiss the person who thought of this. What a wonderful thing they are x0x0x0
6. Super Duper Short Hair - Rock on - Pink. You are my current hair inspiration.
7. I heart hearts.
8. C O F F E E - all day every day.
(you can save the "too much caffeine" speech for some one who'll listen)
9. Gin and Diet Tonic night cap.
(you can put the alcohol speech in that same file)
10. Fresh cut flowers. Nothing says "I love you" to me as much. (accept for maybe jewelry)
love today - leslie

I told Jake on the way home from school that Grandma was coming for dinner. Of course, He asked "why?". I said "because we have a present to give her for her birthday". "What is it?" he asked. I said "I put your smile in a box so Grandma can take it home and see it whenever she wants." He simply replied "ok".
